This article is a step-by-step guide on how to re-enable your supply on the following prepayment smart meters:

Secure electricity meter

How to identify: The meter’s serial number begins with two digits then P.

The meter has a keypad with buttons A and B and numbers 0-9.

  • Ensure your meter is topped up with a credit balance of at least £1
  • Press button (A) to wake the meter up 
  • Then press (A) again to activate supply connection
  • Then press (B) to confirm
  • Your supply should now be back on

Secure gas meter

How to identify: The meter’s serial number begins with G4P.
The meter has a keypad with buttons A and B and numbers 0 -9.

  • Ensure your meter is topped up with a credit balance of at least £1
  • Turn off your boiler and all other gas appliances in the property before trying to restore your gas supply
  • Press button (A) to wake the meter up
  • Press button (A) again to activate supply connection 
  • Then press (B) to confirm
  • Once your meter’s supply has been restored, wait for 30 seconds before then turning your boiler back on

Aclara electricity meter

How to identify: The meter’s serial number begins with two digits then M.

It has two buttons labelled A and B.

  • Ensure your meter is topped up with a credit balance of at least £1
  • Once you’ve topped up, the relay (pictured below in the button right hand corner) will start to flash and a reconnection message will appear 
  • Press and hold buttons (A) and (B) together and the supply will connect

Flonidan gas meter

How to identify: The meter’s serial number begins with G4F.

It has three buttons labelled A, B and C.

  • Ensure your meter is topped up with a credit balance of at least £1
  • Once a top up has been received by the meter a reconnection message will appear on the first screen
  • Turn off your boiler and all other gas appliances in the property before trying to restore your gas supply
  • Hold down the button ‘B’ to re-enable your supply
  • The meter will then conduct a gas flow check before connecting. This is to ensure there’s no excess flow of gas (in the case of gas leaks or appliances left on). If the gas flow is deemed to be excessive, the valve will close. It’s advisable not to use gas appliances for up to 5 minutes after opening the valve
  • If the valve remains or reverts back to closed, check all gas appliances to confirm they’re off and reattempt re-enabling the supply. If there’s a suspected gas leak, or you can smell gas immediately call 0800 111 999

Honeywell electricity meter 

How to identify: The meter’s serial number begins with two digits, then K or L.

It has two buttons (upper and lower button).

  • Ensure your meter is topped up with a credit balance of at least £1
  • Press the lower button to illuminate the display screen
  • Navigate using the lower button until SUPPLY is displayed
  • Press the upper button to select
  • SUPPLY STATE ARMED message will be displayed
  • Hold the upper and lower together until the meter makes a clicking noise
  • SUPPLY STATE ENABLED will be displayed and your supply will be switched back on

Honeywell gas meter 

How to identify: The meter’s serial number begins with G4K.
It has three buttons (left, middle and right).

  • Wake the gas meter by pressing the middle button
  • Ensure your meter is topped up with a credit balance of at least £1
  • Turn off your boiler and all other gas appliances in the property before trying to restore your gas supply
  • Hold the middle button to restore your supply
  • The meter will then conduct a gas flow check. This is to ensure there’s no excess flow of gas (in the case of gas leaks or appliances left on). If the gas flow is deemed to be excessive, the valve will close and you will remain off supply. Don't switch gas appliances on whilst the gas flow check is in progress
  • If the valve remains or reverts back to closed, check all gas appliances to confirm they’re off and reattempt re-enabling the supply. If there’s a suspected gas leak, or you can smell gas immediately call 0800 111 999

Landis + Gyr electricity meter

How to identify: The meter’s serial number begins with two digits, then an L or Z.

It has two buttons labelled A and B.

  • Ensure your meter is topped up with a credit balance of at least £1
  • Press button (A) to enter the main menu
  • Press button (A) to enter Prepayment status 
  • Press button (B) to enter Prepayment status
  • Press and hold button (B) to restore supply

Landis + Gyr gas meter

How to identify: The meter’s serial number begins with E6S.

It has two buttons labelled A and B.

  • Ensure your meter is topped up with a credit balance of at least £1
  • Turn off your boiler and all other gas appliances in the property before trying to restore your gas supply
  • The Credit ARM screen should appear. Press button (B)
  • Release button (B)
  • Press the button (A) to confirm appliances are off
  • Hold button (A) until the display changes
  • Release the (A) button
  • Then wait for the valve to open
  • Your gas supply is now restored
  • If the valve remains or reverts back to closed, check all gas appliances to confirm they’re off and reattempt re-enabling the supply. If there’s a suspected gas leak, or you can smell gas immediately call 0800 111 999

EDMI electricity meter

How to identify: The meter’s serial number begins with two digits, then E.

It has two buttons. Holding down the right button for 1 second acts as an ‘OK’ function.

  • Ensure your meter is topped up with a positive balance of at least £1
  • Press and hold the (OK) button to enter the main menu 
  • Press and hold the (OK) button on the main Prepay screen
  • Press the (OK) button to scroll through the menu until you reach Info—Supply. Then press and hold the (OK) button to enter
  • Press and hold the (OK) button to restore your supply

EDMI gas meter

How to identify: The meter’s serial number begins with E6E.

It has two buttons. Holding down the right button for 1 second acts as an ‘OK’ function.

  • Ensure your meter is topped up with a credit balance of at least £1
  • Turn off your boiler and all other gas appliances in the property before trying to restore your gas supply
  • The Credit ARM screen should appear. Press the (OK) button
  • Press the (OK) button to enable supply
  • Enabling will now begin
  • The enabled screen will display when the supply has been enabled
  • If the valve remains or reverts back to closed, check all gas appliances to confirm they’re off and reattempt re-enabling the supply. If there’s a suspected gas leak, or you can smell gas immediately call 0800 111 999
