If you’re receiving a lot of nuisance calls, there are actions you can take to address this.
What can I do?
You can take these simple steps straight away to reduce the inflow of nuisance calls and make them easier to manage:
If you’re receiving calls from companies or organisations, the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) is a free service and is the official central opt-out register on which you can record your preference not to receive unsolicited sales or marketing calls. You can call them to register on 0345 070 0707.
Caller Display (Caller Line ID) is enabled as standard:
Caller display lets you recognise unknown numbers so you can decide to answer or not.
Block calls from specific numbers:
You may have a telephone that enables you to block those calls based on Caller Line ID.
Anonymous Caller Reject:
You can benefit from using the call feature, anonymous caller reject, which will reject calls from anyone who withholds their number when calling you. You can apply this feature through your online account.
Can I change my number?
While we wouldn’t recommend changing your phone number straight away, we can do this for you if you feel like the calls aren’t going away.
In this scenario, we wouldn’t charge you to be renumbered in the first instance. However, if you request a new telephone number a second time, the charge would be £39.38.
