Do I need to do anything to maintain my supply from the new company?
No. Your supply will be uninterrupted, your tariff won’t change and your Direct Debit amount will remain the same. But you will now get 100% renewable electricity as standard and exclusive savings on fuel, plus personalised offers and other surprises, via the Shell Go+ rewards programme.
Is my contract with Shell Energy the same as my old one with First Utility?
Yes. All that has changed is our company name and the fact that your electricity is now 100% renewable as standard.
Will I still be fixed into my old tariff now you have changed name?
Yes. All existing tariffs will stay the same with prices remaining fixed for the duration of the contract. But now they will all be powered by 100% renewable electricity at no extra cost and customers on all tariffs will be able to benefit from loyalty discounts such as motor fuel discounts and affordable access to a- range of smart-home technology.
Bills and payments FAQs
Will the renewable offer mean my bill will go up?
Renewable electricity is standard across all tariffs at no extra cost. All existing tariffs will stay the same with prices remaining fixed for the duration of the contract.
Do I need to change my bank details?
No. But your Direct Debit will now be paid to Shell Energy Retail Limited rather than First Utility.
Smart meters FAQs
Do I need to change my smart meter or can you take readings from my existing meter?
No change is needed. We’ll continue to take your readings as before.
I was due to have a smart meter fitted – will this still happen?
Yes. Your existing appointment will still go ahead.
Will Shell Energy continue to offer broadband?
Shell Energy Broadband will remain an important part of our offer so existing broadband customers need not worry and new customers looking for a great value broadband service will still find Shell Energy Broadband a compelling proposition.
What if I don’t want to be supplied by Shell?
We hope you’ll find the inclusion of 100% renewable electricity as standard and the rewards programme an attractive enough offer to stay, but you are free to leave under the terms of the tariff you are on. Note that exit fees may apply.
