If you’d like to upgrade to a smart meter, you can book an appointment.
When the engineer visits your home, they’ll carry out some checks to make sure they can go ahead and install the new smart meter.
There are some situations where it’s not possible for us to go ahead with the installation.
- Poor mobile network coverage in your area. Smart meters rely on mobile technology to communicate, so if your signal is weak, your meter won’t be able to send us your readings.
- Your meter isn’t accessible, for example, it might be obstructed by kitchen units.
- Not enough room to install the meter.
A problem we can’t fix, for example, if there’s a problem with the main supply fuse which is owned by the local Distribution Network Operator, or an issue with your appliances.
