Who will install the sonnen battery and how long will it take?
Sonnen partners with a network of approved installers, one of whom will install the battery storage system and answer all your technical questions. A standard installation usually takes 3 or 4 hours but will depend on the complexity of the installation.
What are the general installation requirements?
A sonnenBatterie can be installed almost anywhere indoors. Common locations are utility rooms, hallways, cloakrooms, offices, kitchens and garages.
How much does it cost to install sonnenBatterie?
The cost of installing a sonnenBatterie system can vary, depending on the battery capacity and complexity of installation. A sonnen approved installer will provide you with a personalised quote based on your Solar PV system size and home energy usage.
A typical price for a fully installed 5kWh sonnenBatterie starts from £6,499 inc VAT.
A sonnenBatterie comes with a warranty of 10 years or 10,000 charge cycles. The performance guarantee states that the battery will be not less than 70% of its installed capacity after 10,000 cycles.
The sonnen warranty is available to download from the sonnen website.
Power in the power cut?
If your home is suitable, sonnen expert installers can install additional controls to allow your battery systems to operate in a mains power cut.
Will I see a reduction in my energy bills?
You will be able to store surplus solar electricity generated during the day for later use, reducing the amount of electricity you draw from the grid and, therefore, reduce your electricity bill. How much you save on your energy bill will depend on your individual solar PV system and energy usage.
What if I don't have Solar Panels installed?
To benefit from our “Solar Storage” tariff you’ll need to have both solar panels and sonnenBatterie installed.
Sonnen approved installers can help by discussing your system requirements and providing you with a quote.
How will solar credits work?
Once you switched to Shell Energy tariff and installed SonnenBatterie, you’ll be eligible to receive up to £150 in solar credit on your energy bill in any consecutive 12 months period. A fixed monthly credit of £50 will be applied in the winter months of December 2021, January 2022, February 2022 for surplus solar energy exported during the summer months of June 2021, July 2021 and August 2021.
Do I need a smart meter for this tariff?
In order for us to give you an accurate bill, we need to know how much energy you’re using.
If you already have smart meters that have been installed by another supplier, we may not be able to operate your existing meters as smart meters. If we can’t, you’ll need to upgrade to our SMETS2 meter. But the good news is that this meter will be compatible with all other suppliers and products and services should you wish to switch to in the future.
Do I have to be a Shell Energy feed in tariff (FITs) customer?
No, you can continue to receive government subsidy from your current supplier.
