What information do I need before I can sign up to the tariff?
If you’re an existing customer, and already have your sonnenBatterie installed, you’ll need to provide your Shell Energy account number and your sonnenBatterie number.
We’ll also ask you to confirm your Solar PV system ownership (MCS certificate) or sonnenBatterie commissioning certificate. We reserve the right not to apply solar credits if you’re unable to confirm ownership of Solar PV and sonnenBatterie at your address.
What is the eligibility criteria for this tariff?
- Own a solar PV system and a sonnenBatterie
- Use a credit meter (not a prepayment meter)
- Pay your energy bills by monthly Direct Debit
How are solar credits earned?
Solar credits are earned during the summer months (June, July and August). You can find confirmation of these dates in your tariff terms and conditions for confirmation of your dates. sonnen will export the excess energy from your battery into the grid to provide cleaner electricity for other households to use.
How are the solar credits calculated?
With this tariff you are entitled to an electricity account credit (solar credits) of up to £150. This is based on deemed export of 1,000 kWh over the summer months of June, July and August.
How will the solar credit appear on my account?
If you’ve qualified for a solar credit you’ll see it appear on your bill. It’ll be labelled as solar credit in the ‘Other charges and credits’ section, which is found on page 3 of your bill.
Do I need to have solar panels installed as well as a battery to take this tariff?
Yes, you must have solar panels installed and you must be the owner.
Will taking this tariff impact my current feed in tariff (FITs) payments?
Moving onto this tariff and receiving the solar credit will not have any impact on your current FITs arrangements.
What do I do if I have a question about my smart export guarantee (SEG) / feed in tariff (FITs) payment?
If you’re already registered for the feed in tariff (FIT) / smart export guarantee (SEG) scheme with another supplier, you’re not required to transfer either of them to Shell Energy.
