If you’ve had your smart meter installed and your IHD (in-home display) isn’t working or displaying any energy use or tariff information, there are a few checks you can do:

  • Turn the IHD off for five minutes, and then switch it back on
  • Make sure it’s plugged in and turned on
  • If it’s running on batteries, make sure they’re charged

If this doesn't work:

  • Make sure there are no obstacles between your IHD and your smart meter
  • Move your IHD closer to your smart meter
  • Log in to My Account, then try the troubleshooting tool. You must be logged in before you can access the troubleshooting tool


If the IHD still doesn’t appear to be working, you'll need to send us a photo of the device in good lighting that clearly shows the screen. Once you've taken your photo, email it to us and we’ll do our best to respond within 48 hours.
