Can I stop the switch to Shell Energy by moving to another supplier?
Ofgem’s advice is to allow the switch to Shell Energy before you move elsewhere. It is the smoothest way for any credit balances you had with GOTO Energy to be honoured by us. If you try to switch before then, your request will take longer to process.
If you want to change supplier after switching to us, you can do so without any exit fees. In any case, we think you’ll like it here at Shell Energy, so we hope you’ll stay.
I’d already started switching to another supplier (not Shell Energy) when I heard that GOTO Energy was going out of business. Will my switch still go ahead?
Your switch to your new supplier should go ahead as planned. To double check, we recommend calling your new supplier and asking for an update.
I had just arranged to switch to GOTO Energy but my switch wasn’t yet completed. What happens now?
Depending on where you were in the switch process, you may revert back to your previous supplier, or you’ll continue through the process and move over to Shell Energy. We advise calling your previous supplier to check they’re still supplying your energy.
