What’s a UTRN number?

A UTRN number, also known as a unique transactional reference number, is a long numerical code that you enter into your smart prepayment meter to apply credit.

You may have to enter a UTRN to apply your Energy Bills Support Scheme (EBSS) discount if we aren’t able to apply it automatically, or if a top up has failed to go straight onto your meter.

How you enter the UTRN will depend on what type of meter you have.
